Jay Young (Ret.) has built a reputation as a seasoned judge, mediator, arbitrator, and special master resolving high-stakes cases with skill and integrity. Expertise That Matter
Jay is a retired jurist who has a reputation for being studious, prepared, and fair in his decisions. While at the court, Jay recruited and trained the court’s short trial judges, mediators, and arbitrators. He heard civil disputes in the state’s busiest district court. While on the bench, he also served as a settlement judge and special master for the court.
Before taking the bench, Jay was a respected litigator focusing on complex, high stakes business, real estate, and personal injury matters for decades. Jay obtained his first ADR certification in 1994, and has always championed resolving matters outside court. He has worked as a private arbitrator and court appointed arbitrator in several hundred matters since 2003. He was recognized as the Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America (published by U.S. News & World Report) in 2021 for his work as an Arbitrator. Jay has mediated hundreds of litigated and pre-litigation disputes privately and for both the Eighth Judicial District Court for the State of Nevada and the Nevada Supreme Court as a settlement judge.
